Some of these children’s parents work at “Stone Quarries'' and some work in “Building Constructions Sites “earning just Rs. 1,000/- to 2000 a month. There are many ‘Single Mothers’ deserted by their Husbands, “Widows” and “Divorcees” with no dependable source of income.

For these families, paying the school fees for their children is impossible, as food and clothing uses up all the money,paying for school is so difficult, that going to college remains just a dream, even if they are highly intelligent.

Without parental love and guidance and some live with their poor old grand parents / poor relatives , such a child is already at a disadvantage, and could end up without even an Education. It’s a tragedy when a woman loose her husband, and even more so if she doesn’t have the means to support herself , if she doesn’t have enough property, or the kind of education with which she can get a job that pays reasonably well.

Some of our young widows have been left with almost nothing, and some have the additional responsibility of caring for their young children. Among these women are a number of War Widows, whose husbands sacrificed their lives fighting for Our Country.

Among the poorer sections, even divorcees live in difficult conditions. Their education is not job worthy, and their traumas have not allowed them to re-marry or job search effectively.

Many Poor Kodava Elders 75+Yrs above today live alone in Coorg, because their children have migrated in search of jobs to towns and cities. As most of us have seen, Kodavas migrate when the land they have is not enough to support them and have no other means of earning a decent living.

The poor elders have to live on small amounts sent to them by their children. There are cases where misunderstanding with children have cut off all sources of income coming for their daily living , with bare minimum left for food and medicines.When such things happens, these elder parents do not know where to go asking for help and become mute spectators with reality. We have many such old parents living like this in Coorg.

When such situation for poor elders / parents happens , Some go to live at old age homes / ashrams and some with their poor daughters, Some of them are medically dependent old parents and poor daughters find it very difficult to look after such parents needs and hiring a healthcare worker is beyond their imagination, often so the medicine bill of such parents becomes exorbitant with frequent visit to doctors clinic / hospitals.

You can make a big difference by helping such elder parents of our community in their old age to live a decent living at old age homes / ashrams / with poor daughters with a contribution as small as Rs. 500/- Rs. 1,000/- . per month by adopting such old parents to help them financially until they live.

Details of such parents will be given to the contributor personally and contribution can be sent to such old parents directly every month or use online Money Transfer Facility with an Instructions to us.
